Greek far right wants to restore the death penalty in the country
The party of right-wing Greek Golden Dawn proposes the reintroduction of the death penalty in the country and the possibility of applying it to immigrants convicted of violent offenses.
In a statement distributed today, the Golden Dawn, which has 18 seats in the Greek parliament, argues that "immigrants assassins' turned the country into a 'jungle' and that the state is unable to have them under control.
The party is in favor of equipping police with weapons of greater caliber.
Military weapons are essential to combat the 'pandilhas armed criminal immigrants, "said the statement quoted by Efe party.
The death penalty was officially abolished in Greece in 1993, but the last execution took place in 1972.
